She has served as Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee, the Court Rules Committee, and the Civil Litigation Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. Currently, she is the Chair of the Sole and Small Firm Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. In addition, Merle is a Fellow of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, recognition of her status as one of the top trial lawyers in Allegheny County. She has served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and is a member of its Long Range Planning Committee.
